I was inspired to do this pic when watching the LXG dvd one day. Then, I got it into my head to make this piece a bit more... unconventional. This piece truely is mixed media. Media: ink, watercolour, blood.
My own blood is the most common pigment I use next to my traditional watercolours. This one took about a teaspoon of blood. The bloody parts include: the right eye (the hair coming down over it too), lips, teeth, left eye and nose. I used only 4 pigments: black ink, red ink, yellow ochre, and blood. The red ink unfortunately didn't get the expected results (its the pink looking colour), so I went with blood for the true blood colour. The bad thing about using blood (other than you have to find a way to get it) is that it discolours to a yucky brown. I had to scan it rather quickly to get that rich redness.
wow, that's so cool, very organic! Yeh, I've always noticed how blood become brown, so was wondering is it was actulyl blood, but yeh, seeing you scanned it quickly, it makes sense! nice one!

This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
